YOUTH MINISTER

Hi! I'm Catherine Stevens the Youth Minister for Our Lady of Good Counsel and St. Martin de Porres. I am currently organizing a lot of exciting events in our parish for youth of all different ages. I encourage you to become involved in these events. They are a great way to meet other Catholic youth in our local area; to have fun and share our faith together.

EVERY WEEK on Sunday Nights

at St.Martin de Porres, Davidson. starting at 6pm.

We are always looking for young people who want to get involved with music, singing, reading, taking up the collection, serving and being Eucharistic ministers, or just come along and join in! See you next Sunday.

Current Events in our Parish

Dinner and Youth Night, Years 8-10

Sunday 28th May

All youth in years 8,9 & 10 are invited on the 28th May to come to our Youth Mass at St. Martin de Porres, Davidson 6:00pm and then to our Youth Night afterwards in the Hall.

This will be fun night out together with time for socialising with friends and time of sharing our faith together as a youth group. We are asking for a contribution of $5 to help pay for the food.

Bring along your friends!!!!

Taizé Prayer Night Friday 2nd June

On Friday 2^nd June the youth of our parish are invited to join in with a Taizé Prayer Session. This prayer night is appropriate for the young adults and older youth members of our parish.

Taizé Prayer is an ecumenical and meditative style of prayer. It was started in 1940 in Taizé France by Brother Roger. This form of prayer involves music and chanting, scripture reading, intercessions and silent prayer. Every week young people from all over the world visit Taizé to join in with their prayer and community life. In our own parish we have Christians from several other religions joining us for this time of prayer.

On the 2^nd June we will gather at Davidson in the hall at 7:30pm to relax together and have a brief introduction talk about Taizé. Then we will be joining the Christian community in prayer, followed by a light supper afterwards. The evening will conclude around 9:30pm.

Everyone is invited to our special celebration for Pentecost Sunday

Youth Games, Mass and B.B.Q. Fundraiser for Alas

5:00pm Games for year 5&6 youth, in the hall at Davidson

6:00pm Youth Mass for Pentecost; everyone is invited.

During the Mass exciting news about the Youth Retreat will be announced and Retreat registration forms will be available.

7:00pm B.B.Q Fundraiser for Alas, We are raising money for the people of Alas in East Timor. This is an opportunity for the youth of our parish to support Alas. Youth and families, from the Mini Vinnies and Youth Group will be selling sausages after Mass. Please come along and support this fundraiser.

Any youth who would like to assist with the fundraiser- setting up, selling drinks, encouraging people to buy something, helping to serve… please contact me (see contact details below) Thank you

Organsied by Diocese of Broken Bay for youth aged 16 years and up. More details Catherine

Fri 29Sep06 to Mon 2Oct06 BLACK STUMP.
A huge Christian festival for older youth. There will be speakers, workshops, activities, worship and lots of music. Thousands of people attend each year. We are hoping to take a group from our parish to join up with youth from other parishes in our diocese., to enjoy this event together. It will be over the October long weekend. Catherine
